Upscale Imprint Apartments Coming to South Loop’s Printer’s Row
Construction is progressing nicely on a 31-story luxury apartment midrise in Chicago’s South Loop. Recently named Imprint, this new property is taking to the sky in popular Printer’s Row neighborhood at 717 S. Clark between Harrison and Polk Street.
This mirrored glass tower will replace the former Palmer Printing building – Printer’s Row’s last printing company in operation – and adjacent parking lot. Imprint is slated to add 349 more residential units to the ever-growing South Loop area by 2020.
An Exciting New Chapter for Printer’s Row
Printer’s Row was once a bustling industrial area, notorious for the print factories and warehouses that lined the streets. For several decades, however, the print shops have been transformed into new luxury apartments and condos.
The quiet pocket neighborhood is a suburban oasis with a whispering of trees that line the quaint streets. Perhaps the most magical part of Printer’s Row is that it’s also mere minutes from the action and conveniences found in the heart of the South Loop. It’s no wonder it’s such a gem of a place to live in.
Development and Design
One of the busiest firms in the South Loop, Chicago-based CMK Companies is behind the development. In 2016, CMK finished off a 28-story tower at 1333 S. Wabash and earlier this year, launched the gorgeous Coeval Apartments on the corner of Wabash and East 14th.
Authoring the design is another local firm, Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture. HPA is known for such creative endeavors as Essex on the Park and SixForty North Wells. Expect Imprint to be outfitted with European-style kitchens, chic fixtures and floor to ceiling windows.
On-Site Insight
In addition to adding 349 residential rentals to the Printer’s Row housing market, the new apartments in South Loop tower will contain 192 parking spaces. We anticipate the property to be a mix of studios, 1-, and 2-bedroom units.
We fully expect this residence to join in with the pack of pet-friendly apartments in South Loop. With Grant Park just 2 blocks away, this location is ideal for dog owners and their four-legged friends.
Just a 10-Minute Walk
Imprint is located in a pedestrian-friendly area with just about everything in close reach. In ten minutes or less, you can grab a morning wake-up of steaming fresh coffee then jet on over to CVS, Target, Trader Joe’s or Jewel Osco for groceries, toiletries, or whatever you’re needing.
The neighborhood is abounding in restaurants. Take your pick of Flaco’s Tacos, Tutto Italiano, Sofi, Umai, or Chicago Curry House.
You’d be hard-pressed to find better places to enjoy a cold one than First Draft or one of the other nearby pubs or bars.
Chicago Board of Trade is right outside the doorstep and the CTA Lasalle Blue Line and CTA Harrison Red Line are splendidly close for travel outside the area.
