Old Town Welcomes Elegant New Apartments at North Park Pointe
A new mid-rise apartment building has added luxury, elegance and beauty in Old Town. Replacing an old surface parking lot on the southwest corner of North Avenue and North Park Avenue, the newly constructed complex – called North Park Pointe – opened in 2020.
Nicely nestled in the heart of Old Town, its residents are just steps from all the best that the historic neighborhood has to offer. Several classic taverns, tons of diverse restaurants, cool boutique shops, sunny sandy beaches, and lots of laughs at comedy clubs make this ‘hood one of the most popular places to live in Chicago.
New Apartments That Fit Right into Old Town
Located at 1552 N. North Park Ave., North Park Pointe was developed by Chicago-based Sedgwick Properties. Their full-service team of designers, architects and general contractors brought this building to life from first ideation to the last-laid brick.
I really love the distinct design elements of the building’s 7-story exterior. A timeless look constructed of masonry and concrete, it fits right in with the mix of both modern and vintage buildings in the architecturally-rich neighborhood. The rounded northwest corner and ornamental turret-like rooftop structure add especially unique elements that are rarely seen on newly-constructed apartment buildings.
It’ll be interesting to see what businesses eventually fill the ground level’s 4,000 plus square-feet of commercial space along busy North Avenue. I can picture upscale businesses such as a modern wine bar, a lush home decor retailer, or a chic doggy daycare.
North Park Pointe’s Apartments
The 69 rentals at 1552 N North Park Avenue are a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments. There are also several one-bedroom plus den units with TWO full baths. That type of space is definitely in-demand with more folks working from home these days, and not easy to come by in most of Chicago’s newest apartments.
These sunny new apartments in Old Town feature airy open-concept floor plans with sleek modern kitchens and large island counters. Luxury finishes abound with granite counters, tile backsplash, stainless steel appliances and modern espresso cabinets. And, storage is ample with several units including walk-in closets.
My favorite floor plans are the northeast corner two-bedroom units, which have unusually cool rounded balconies. And, there are walk-in closets in both bedrooms making that arm wrestle with your roommate over the best one totally unnecessary.

For a fairly intimate mid-rise community, the developers managed to pack in plenty of amenities. With a cozy fire pit, outdoor kitchen and gas grilling stations, I almost guarantee this will be your summer-time happy spot. The city views from the rooftop are pretty sweet too!

Get to Know North Park Pointe’s Neighborhood
Live at North Park Pointe, and you’ll never run out of fun things to do.
Eat and Be Entertained
Right across the street is the legendary The Second City comedy club where dozens of the funniest celebrities have launched their careers. You’ll also love being walking distance to Old Town’s annual art fairs, street festivals, art galleries, and small boutique shops.
Don’t cook? Yeah, me neither. No worries since Old Town is packed with restaurants with bites ranging from simple grub to fancy gourmet. And, with historic pubs and taverns spread throughout the neighborhood, several cold taps are a quick walk away.
Get Outside and Play
Chicago’s big back yard, Lincoln Park, is just a few blocks away. Fun fact: according to World Atlas, Lincoln Park gets a whopping 20 million visitors each year. That makes it the third most visited city park in the U.S., right behind the National Mall and Memorial Park in Washington D.C. and New York City’s Central Park.
Can someone tell me what Chicago has that NYC and DC never will? Besides better pizza, we’ve got Lake Michigan and its 100% public lakeshore. Less than a mile from North Park Pointe, the lake lies just across Lake Shore Drive. Jump on your bike and head out for a long ride on the Lakeshore Trail, or dig your toes in the sand at North Avenue Beach.
Bonus – since North Park Pointe is the newest dog-friendly apartment building in Old Town, dog-owners will relish being so close to all this green space.
