Fun Fact

A portion of South Loop was once known as “Printing House Row” due to its concentration of publishing businesses. Today, this area is a pocket neighborhood called “Printer’s Row” and many of the historic buildings have been converted into residential lofts and commercial spaces.

Where to Shop

Living in South Loop means the corridor to world-class shopping on Michigan Avenue is nearby. Head north for some major retail therapy from luxury retail brands like Tiffany and Co. to popular brands such as Nike and Sephora.

For more of the everyday needs, there’s a Target (with groceries!) on Roosevelt and Clark, plus a Walgreens and Trader Joe’s just a few blocks east of there. In the northern half of the neighborhood, you’ll find several small-format grocers including Totto’s Market, River City Market and Urban Pantry.

There are smaller parks in South Loop too, including great spots to take your dog to run out some energy. Leash up Fido and head to Roosevelt Park to play in the dog area, or bring your tennis racquet and perfect your game.
