The Aberdeen West Loop, one of the newest managed properties in the West Loop Gateway, was recently taken over by Waterton Residential. Waterton manages over 3,000 apartments in downtown Chicago, so we wanted to take a closer look at what the fuss is all about.
What Makes The Aberdeen West Loop Different
This mid-rise luxury apartment building makes apartment hunting in Chicago an easy affair. From studio apartments and two-bedrooms, think of it as West Loop condo-living with professional management. My favorite part about The Aberdeen is that the building revolves around the resident’s personal experience. It’s an intimate setting designed with the renter in mind, and that makes all the difference.
Waterton wanted to acquire this property because it is positioned in one of the fastest growing areas in Chicago. The household income is well above national average. Our goal is to be a luxury community in the area.

What to Expect Living at The Aberdeen
These thoughtfully designed units offer spacious layouts that include:
- Chef inspired kitchens and stainless steel appliances
- Soft-close cabinetry
- Hardwood floors
- In-unit washer and dryer
- Crown molding
- Floor-to-ceiling windows
You couldn’t ask for more work space in the kitchen. I swooned at the granite countertops and massive island that gives you all the space you could need for every occasion. The Aberdeen feels like home with an attention to detail and design that are just impeccable.
Features and Amenities
The Aberdeen is the perfect combination of high-rise living and small boutique apartments. Residents get a secure entry with a key fob system, heated indoor parking and a building that is cat and dog-friendly, with its own private indoor dog-run.
Some of my favorite layouts are their two-bedroom, two-bathroom units that are perfect for roommates. I’m frequently working with roommates who are looking for separation between the bedrooms, and the layouts of these apartments are ideal. The bedrooms are also generously sized and don’t share a common wall (read between the lines – privacy).
Fourth-floor units come with a private rooftop terrace and the views are amazing because of the low-rise architecture that makes up the majority of the West Loop. I can’t imagine a better way to spend a Chicago weekend than lounging on my rooftop with friends and family. It’s what we wait all winter for, right?
If you’re a pet owner, you’re also in luck. These West Loop apartments are perfectly situated super close to Mary Bartleme and Skinner Parks, both awesome and dog-friendly places to tire out your pooch.
Why Choose a West Loop Luxury Apartment
The West Loop is home to some of the best restaurants the city has to offer and is a budding artist’s community with shops and galleries galore. It’s also the ideal location for anyone who wants to walk to work – just ask any West Loop resident who used to spend time in rush hour traffic. The close proximity to downtown still has a neighborhood feel that makes the West Loop a seriously desirable place to call home.
A few local businesses in the West Loop offer exclusive deals for The Aberdeen (and Waterton) residents. Here’s a couple of them you should jump on!
