Cascade Apartments Springing Up in Chicago’s Lakeshore East
Progress is flowing smoothly on the construction of Lakeshore East’s newest luxury apartments whimsically named, Cirrus and Cascade. These twin residential towers are scheduled to open in the summer of 2021. While Cirrus is reserved for upscale condos, Cascade will be open to renters looking to lease modern, brand-new apartments.
Plans for a future third residential apartment building are in the making. Currently being referred to as Parcel I, the skyscraper will top the two other towers at over 900 feet. Together the threesome will reign the sky where the Chicago River flows into Lake Michigan.
Building Specs and Details
In keeping with the modern look and feel of the project, both towers will feature a bold bronze metal exterior clad with a splash of glass.
Thirty-seven story Cascade apartments will stretch up 396 feet at 455 E. Waterside Drive, adding 503 new luxury apartments to Chicago’s ever-growing Lakeshore East neighborhood.
Own a car? You’re going to love this: a lower level 589-space parking podium will be shared with its 47-story neighbor, Cirrus. Any downtown-renter knows parking is hard to come by, making this a huge win for car-owners.
The two towers will channel to Chicago Lakefront Trail and lower Lake Shore Drive through “Cascade Park”, a landscaped sloping park designed by the internationally acclaimed firm, Claude Cormier and Associates. A lush green space in the park will stretch across three acres.
At the Helm
Seasoned firms, Lendlease and Magellan, will collaborate on the development. Magellan is known for local projects like Gallery on Wells and Exhibit in River North. Lendlease was responsible for 1333 S Wabash and 1000 S Clark.
No stranger to the neighborhood, Lake Shore-based bKL Architecture, who partnered with Magellan on Exhibit on Superior in River North, is diving in with the design.
Given the history of those in charge, Cascade apartments will be dripping with amazing amenities.
In keeping with many communities in the area, we anticipate Cascade to be pet-friendly. With Lakeshore East Dog Park a short walk away, this might be the perfect place for you and your dog to call home.
The Neighborhood Deets
Once a former rail yard and golf course, Lakeshore East is now a hidden urban suburb oasis tucked away on the edge of downtown Chicago where cool fountains flow and manicured green space abound amidst an ocean of modern city conveniences and high-rises.
Just east of the Loop, a mere 10-minute walk will take you to shopping spots, dining, nightlife, the lake, lake trails and so much more.
Mornings are worth waking up for when Dunkin’ Donuts and Starbucks are your neighbors. Mariano’s, CVS, and Walgreens have shopping needs covered.
Both seafaring and land-lovin’ eatery choices are endless. Some of our favorites include Bockwinkel’s at Harbor Point, The Palm Chicago, lll Forks, Giordano’s, Sweetwater Tavern & Grille, and Wildberry Pancakes and Café.
For travel outside of the neighborhood, Millennium Station, CTA State/Lake Brown, Pink, Green, Purple, and Orange lines, as well as the CTA Lake Red line, are super close.
